Summer is here folks! And I don’t need to tell you that Christmas is not too far away. 

If you’re interested in joining some festivities, doing some Christmas shopping at the local markets or having a Christmas lunch out, we’ve got you covered with this Christmas guide for the Southern Gold Coast.

Christmas Markets and Festivities: 

Coolangatta Christmas Carols

Sunday 13th December

Queen Elizabeth Park from 4 pm – 8 pm.  

The Coolangatta Christmas Carols is a great evening out for the whole family. You’ll be sure to get in the Christmas spirit with market stalls, food, fireworks, a visit from Santa, fun activities for the kids and of course… Christmas carols! 

The Village Markets

Sunday 6th, 13th & 20th December

Burleigh Heads State School from 8.30 am – 1 pm.

The Village Markets are a popular Sunday spot amongst the Gold Coast locals and will be running all through December. There’s a buzzing atmosphere with live music, great coffee and food. Plus lots of market stalls to do some rummaging and Christmas shopping. 

Christmas is Coming to Palm Beach Farmers’ Market

24th December  

Palm Beach Farmers Market from 6 am – 11.30 am

On Christmas Eve the Palm Beach Farmers Market is hosting a special Christmas edition with a visit from Santa from 7am – 10.30am.  Lots of delicious food and drink as well as the usual fruit and veg stallholders. 

Breakfast with Santa at Miami Marketta

14th December 

Miami Marketta at 10.30 am

Miami Marketta is throwing a party with Santa for the kids! It will be a high energy stage show with Santa and his mischievous elves. There’ll be Christmas carols, comedy, circus, photos with Santa, dancing and more. For more information or to book your ticket, click here. 

Tugun Lights up For Christmas 

5th December 

Toolona Street, Tugun from 4 pm. 

Toolona Street will light up with lots of festivities on the 5th of December. With specials from the local restaurants, stage entertainment, roving performers, a Christmas market, live music and more! 

Currumbin Community Market 


Opposite the Currumbin RSL from 7 am – 11 am

A local favourite market with a variety of stalls from food, fashion and gifts. There’s always a great vibe with a live band and a grassy area to sit and enjoy your food and drinks. 

Christmas Lunch on the Gold Coast 

St Helens Coolangatta Bar & Grill

Just a stone’s throw from Iconic Kirra Beach Resort is this little gem. There are still some tables left from 3 pm. Get in quick! 

Currumbin Beach Vikings 

Vikings surf club is known for the epic view of Currumbin Beach, so it’s no wonder that Christmas lunch here is very popular. If you want to join their Christmas Seafood Buffet lunch, then be quick as all tables are nearly booked out. 

Tweed Heads Bowls Club 

Tweed Heads Bowls Club is open for a special Christmas lunch in their lovely Bistro. 

Palm Beach Hotel 

Palm Beach Hotel hosts a full-service Christmas Buffet including delicious prawns and oysters. 

Little Truffle 

If you’re after something a little special, then check out the Little Truffle in Mermaid Beach for your Christmas Lunch. 

Arrange your Own Picnic Lunch

Stock up on Christmas Eve at the local stores and markets and take your own Christmas feast to the beach or try and grab one of the shaded BBQs at Kirra Hill Lookout.
